Flux marine
subsea systems engineer | 2021-2022
Summary
In 2021, I was recruited by the electric boat company, Flux Marine, to be employee number 7 and their Subsea Systems Engineer. During my time at Flux Marine, I was responsible for every sealing mechanism on their family of electric outboard motors ranging from 15 to 100HP. In addition to sealing mechanisms, I also worked on structural design and led manufacturing engineering efforts. In the year I was there, we grew from 1 prototype outboard, to 3 different outboard models (15, 40 and 100HP); increased headcount; and completed a Series A fundraise.

Conducted sea trials of electric outboard motors to verify structural integrity, performance and watertightness.
Designed and carried out thermal validation testing of coolant system and power transmission components.
Fabrication
3
Designed and machined molds for thermoformed outboard cowlings.
Fabricated sheet metal components for outboard midsection structural prototypes.
Owned 3D printing, laser cutting, and sheet metal fabrication efforts across the company.
